Is this floor waterproof?
Yes. This flooring is 100% waterproof and suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and other moisture-prone areas. The planks themselves will not be damaged by water exposure.
When installing over concrete subfloors, a moisture barrier is required. You may use either:
- A 6 mil plastic polyethylene vapor barrier, or
- An approved roll-on liquid moisture barrier applied according to the manufacturer’s instructions
While the flooring is waterproof, standing water should not be left for extended periods. In the event of prolonged flooding, the flooring should be removed to prevent moisture buildup beneath the floor.
How durable is this flooring for daily use, pets, and traffic?
This flooring is designed for everyday residential use and light commercial traffic. It resists normal wear, staining, and fading when used as intended.
Like all hard surface flooring, it can be scratched by dirt, grit, and unprotected furniture. To help protect the surface, we recommend:
- Using walk-off mats at exterior entrances to trap dirt and debris
- Placing felt pads under furniture legs
- Keeping pet nails trimmed
Scratches, dents, or damage caused by physical abuse, heavy rolling loads, or lack of proper floor protection are not considered wear-through and are not covered under the warranty.
How do I clean and maintain this floor?
This flooring is designed to be cleaned without waxing or polishing. Wax, polish, or steam cleaners should not be used, as they can damage the surface and void the warranty.
For routine cleaning:
- Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dirt and grit
- Damp mop using clean water or a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner
- Wipe up spills promptly
To protect the finish:
- Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners and ammonia-based products
- Use walk-off mats at exterior entrances to trap dirt and debris
- Place felt pads under furniture legs
Following these care guidelines will help maintain the appearance and performance of your floor over time.
Do I need underlayment or a moisture barrier?
No additional underlayment is required or allowed. This flooring includes a pre-attached underlayment, and installing extra padding will cause flexing and void the warranty.
When installing over concrete, a moisture vapor barrier is required.
What subfloors can this flooring be installed over?
This flooring can be installed over most smooth, clean, and level hard-surface subfloors, including concrete, plywood. Subfloors must be flat within 3/16” over 10 feet, dry, and structurally sound. It is intended for indoor use only
Is this floor safe for homes with kids and pets?
Yes. It’s FloorScore and Greenguard Gold certified, meaning low VOCs and safe for indoor air quality.
What warranty comes with this flooring, and what is covered?
This flooring includes:
- Limited Lifetime Residential Warranty
- 15-Year Limited Commercial Warranty
The warranty covers manufacturing defects, wear-through, staining, and fading under normal use. Labor may be covered for approved claims within the first 36 months if professionally installed. Damage caused by improper installation, moisture issues, scratches, dents, or misuse is not covered.
